What have you been up to? The holidays were a busy time! Here are a few of the beautiful spaces I had a hand in creating. Thanks to all of you who invited me into your homes! Here are a few of my recent decorating discoveries.
Sheila's Redesigned Mantle
Sheila had a large space above her mantle but didn't have any artwork large enough to fill the space. During the redesign, I decided to combine these two pieces, the star and landscape, in combination with her great folk accessories to create an arrangement. I suggested that Sheila add a piece above the star to extend the arrangement higher. This item was placed on her shopping list, and she is planning on purchasing an antique window pane to fill the space. Great idea, Sheila! Sheila commented that she liked the arrangement because it wasn't something she would have done. "I Never Would Have Thought of That!" is music to my ears!
Lea's Staged Dining Room
I worked with Lea to select wall color for her downstairs open floor plan and redesign her living room at the end of 2007. Her family is now moving out of state, so she gave me a call to help her prepare her home for a quick sale. Her dining room was previously empty, and all that had been done was her walls. She wanted to purchase pieces that could be used in her new space as well. Based upon her inspiration color of her walls, she chose her room's color story from her Custom Perfect Palette that she purchased. The room turned out beautifully! This simple and clean style is perfect for home staging purposes.
Lucie's Holiday Mantle
Lucie has had me to her house for the past three years to do her seasonal decor. Each year she purchases a few new pieces. This year we didn't have any new items for her mantle, so I got creative. I had several extra ball ornaments left over from her tree, but I needed a container for them. She had these really cool candle holders of various sizes, so this is what I used. She loved it so much, she kept the candle holders on her mantle after Christmas sans ball ornaments. Look around your house, you'll be amazed at what you already have!
Send me some photos of what you've been doing and tell me what decorating discovery you made. I'd love to hear from you!
